First Edition Thus. One of the earliest Pride and Prejudice editions to feature color illustrations, providing one of the first fully realized visualizations of Austen’s figures and environment. This edition of Pride and Prejudice is elaborately blocked in gilt with pictorial endpapers. It features a substantially expanded set of illustrations, revised and enhanced by Charles Brock, providing some of the earliest visual insights into Austen’s characters and world compared to the first illustrated edition issued nine years earlier by the same artist and publisher.
